Warm week predicted for Sacramento region with 100-degree readings on the way

High temperatures on Monday are expected to be about the same as Sunday in the Sacramento region, but a warm-up throughout the week is expected to end in some very hot weather by the weekend, the National Weather Service predicts.

A slight breeze was blowing early Monday morning, creating pleasant conditions that were slightly cooler than the previous morning. The day’s high should hit 91 degrees.

Forecasters say afternoon maximum readings will creep up through the 90s Monday through Saturday. Highs in the northern Sacramento Valley could be near 100 degrees for most of the week.

Sacramento is not expected to reach the century mark until Sunday when the high is forecast to reach 103 degrees.

The detailed, seven-day forecast from the NWS for the Sacramento region:

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 91. Southwest wind around 6 mph.

Monday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 58. South-southeast wind 5 to 8 mph.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 95. Light and variable wind becoming west-southwest around 6 mph in the afternoon.

Tuesday night: Clear, with a low around 60. South wind around 7 mph.

Wednesday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 96. South-southwest wind around 7 mph.

Wednesday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 60.

Thursday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 96.

Thursday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 58.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 94.

Friday night: Clear, with a low around 61.

Saturday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 98.

Saturday night: Clear, with a low around 66.

Sunday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 103.
