A ridge of high pressure is turning up the heat to midsummer levels in the Sacramento region, with some areas possibly seeing temperatures hit 100 degrees today through Friday.

Today’s high temperature in Sacramento is expected to be 98 degrees, with light winds. And things will remain toasty through the weekend.

“Some areas could see 100 (degrees), and we’re looking at a very gradual cool down on Saturday, but it will still be hot over the weekend,” said Stefanie Henry, a National Weather Service meteorologist in Sacramento. “By Monday, low pressure starts to approach the West Coast, and that could produce some Delta breeze and bring some relief.”
