October in Sacramento arrives on the wind at 13 to 16 mph

It’s all about the wind Wednesday in Sacramento as breezes from the north are expected to blow steady at about 15 mph with gusts up to 24 mph.

The sunny but windy conditions come as temperatures are climbing. A warming trend, thanks to building high pressure, is forecast to produce a high of 93 by Saturday in Sacramento, according to the National Weather Service.

The forecast for Wednesday in Sacramento calls for a high of 86, which is a couple of degrees above normal for the beginning of October. The NWS predicts that overnight lows later this week will be crisp, despite the warm days.

Some mountain valleys might actually see sub-freezing temperatures and scattered valley spots will see overnight lows into the 40s. Sacramento’s night time lows will remain in the high 50s through the weekend.
