Don’t put away that floppy hat: Hot weekend ahead in Sacramento

It won’t feel like fall this weekend as temperatures ramp up in the Sacramento region.

The warming trend should top out on Sunday when 90 degree readings will be commonplace from Redding to Modesto.

The culprit is a strong high pressure system parked over the West Coast. High temperatures by Sunday are expected to run anywhere from 5 to 15 degrees above normal.

Sacramento: +11

Modesto: + 9

Grass Valley: +12
