Hot weather continues; Sacramento hits 96 degrees Saturday

Temperatures will remain much higher than normal Sunday in Sacramento after a sweltering start to October, according to the National Weather Service.

The high temperature in Sacramento hit 96 Saturday, about 15 degrees above normal but below the record of 102 set in 1987, said Jim Mathews, a National Weather Service forecaster. Sunday will look about the same.

“No change, really, right on through Monday,” he said.

Temperatures will cool but remain well above normal until Thursday. After a brief respite, next weekend is likely to be hot, Mathews said.
