Cooler temps ahead for Sacramento after Monday’s 100 degrees

Weather in Sacramento is expected to stair-step down from 100 on Monday to the 80s by Wednesday.

The mercury reached 100 degrees on Monday. But the Delta breeze is starting to usher in some cool marine air.

Tonight the breeze is expected to strengthen, delivering cooler temperatures. The afternoon will still feel uncomfortable today because the high is forecast to be 94 in Sacramento.

However, by Wednesday, the maximum temperature should be down to 89 degrees. Scattered thunderstorms are likely again over the mountains.

The detailed, seven-day forecast from the National Weather Service for the Sacramento region:

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 94. South-southwest wind 7 to 10 mph.

Tuesday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 63. South wind 9 to 13 mph.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 89. South wind around 10 mph.

Wednesday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 59. South wind 10 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 87. South-southwest wind around 9 mph.

Thursday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 58.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 89.

Friday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 59.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 92.

Saturday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 60.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 91.
