Century-mark readings return to Sacramento as a heat wave begins Tuesday.
With just four 100-degree or higher daily readings in July 2015 so far, the city is about to double that number of super hot days starting Tuesday with a forecast high of 104 degrees. Following Tuesday’s sizzler, the temperature is expected to range from 100 to 107 degrees through Friday in Sacramento.
The National Weather Service expects that Wednesday will be the hottest day. Forecasters believe that the record in Sacramento of 106 degrees, set on July 29, 1996, could be broken by a degree on Wednesday.
The hot weather is caused by building high pressure over Northern California. The Delta breeze is just a whisper compared to last week.

There is small relief on the way. Portions of the Delta and the Sacramento area could start to feel the slight return of a breeze toward the end of the week.
Still, forecasters believe Saturday and Sunday will still be hot – just not 100 degree hot. They figure there could be a cool-down into the high 90s on the weekend in Sacramento.
