After a record-breaking 108 degrees on Wednesday, the Sacramento region will get a few degrees of cooling.

A high of 103 degrees is forecast for Sacramento on Thursday. The record for today is 109 degrees.

Temperatures in the Delta were a few degrees cooler this morning than 24 hours earlier. The National Weather Service expects a weak low pressure system off the central California will edge closer to the coast on Saturday, delivering more cooling.

The detailed, 7-day forecast from the NWS for the Sacramento region:

Thursday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 103. Light and variable wind becoming southwest 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon.

Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 66. South wind 6 to 10 mph.

Friday: Mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 97. South southwest wind 5 to 9 mph.

Friday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 64. South wind around 10 mph.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 94. South southwest wind around 9 mph.

Saturday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 63.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 95.

Sunday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 63.

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 95.

Monday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 62.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 93.

Tuesday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 61.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 94.
