Sunshine for the weekend in Sacramento, rain on the way

Sunshine is in the forecast for Sacramento.

The high temperature for both Saturday and Sunday is expected to hit 80 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. The unseasonably high temperatures will drop into the 70-degree range on Monday, when a new system moves into the region.

“We had a big ridge of high pressure, but now that’s breaking down as the system starts moving through,” said Holly Osborne, a weather service forecaster.

Average temperatures for this time of year hover around 77 degrees. Monday’s high temperature is predicted to reach 72 degrees.

The latest system will also bring minor precipitation on Monday, roughly a tenth of an inch, Osborne said.
