The weekend is going to be hot with Sacramento expected to get the first 100-degree readings of August 2015, according to the National Weather Service.

Afternoons in Sacramento on Saturday and Sunday are forecast to be in the low 100s as a significant warm-up occurs. A high pressure system in the desert Southwest is expected to extend westward, replacing the influence of the Delta breeze.

Temperatures are running about the same as 24 hours earlier Wednesday morning. Very little change is expected through Friday.

Sacramento averages six days of 100-degree or above weather in August. However, the hottest day so far this month occurred on Sunday when it was 98 degrees.
