Overcast skies to help drop Sacramento temperatures a couple notches

An increased number of clouds hovering over the Sacramento area is expected to help cool temperatures down a couple degrees this Friday.

The National Weather Services forecast that starting Friday and through the weekend, highs are expected to drop into the 90 degree range, which is still slightly above normal for this time period. Friday’s high is forecast to be 98 degrees.

Temperatures are predicted to take another steep tumble into the mid to upper 80s over the weekend. On Saturday, the northern Sacramento area will wake up to a 20 percent chance of rain in the morning.

Here’s the weather forecast for the week ahead:

Friday: Mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 98. South southwest wind 3 to 8 mph.

Friday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 66. South wind 8 to 10 mph.

Saturday: A 20 percent chance of rain before 11am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 84. South wind around 9 mph.

Saturday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 59. South wind 6 to 10 mph.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 86. South wind around 6 mph becoming west southwest in the morning.

Sunday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 59.

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 88.

Monday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 59.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 87.

Tuesday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 60.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 84.

Wednesday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 59.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 87.
