The below normal temperatures that have prevailed in Sacramento through the past week are forecast to remain in place over the next couple of days.

An incoming low pressure system is expected to bring showers and thunderstorms to northern mountain areas, according to the National Weather Services. In Sacramento, the effects of this system are forecast to be limited to cloudy skies, a light breeze and below average temperatures.

According to forecasters, Friday’s high is predicted to be 82 degrees. By Friday evening, temperatures are expected to make a steep fall into the mid-50s, NWS forecasters said.

A slow climb into the 90-degree range is forecast beginning on Labor Day.

Friday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 54. South southwest wind 5 to 10 mph.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 84. Light and variable wind becoming north northwest 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon.

Saturday night: Clear, with a low around 58. North northwest wind 5 to 9 mph.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 90. North northwest wind 3 to 7 mph.

Sunday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 58.

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 93.

Monday night: Clear, with a low around 60.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 95.

Tuesday night: Clear, with a low around 61.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 95.

Wednesday night: Clear, with a low around 62.

Thursday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 96.
