Rain is not in the forecast for the next week in Sacramento.

A stubborn high pressure system is preventing any incursion of wet weather into the region.

The weather system is also producing daytime high temperatures that are above normal for early October. The high on Thursday is expected to be 87 degrees, which is 5 degrees above average.

The National Weather Service is calling for a bit more warming on Friday as skies clear. The upper high pressure ridge is forecast to buckle some on Saturday as a Pacific Ocean system pushes into the Northwest.

The detailed, seven-day forecast from the NWS for the Sacramento region:

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 87. Calm wind becoming west-southwest around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Thursday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 58. South wind 3 to 5 mph.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 88. Light and variable wind becoming west-southwest around 6 mph in the afternoon.

Friday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 58. South wind around 6 mph.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 87. South-southwest wind around 6 mph.

Saturday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 59.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 88.
