Temperatures pushing 90 degrees are forecast for Friday in Sacramento region

Temperatures are looking summer-like in Sacramento with a high of 89 degrees forecast for Friday.

A high pressure system is producing abnormally high temperatures this week. The high of 89 degrees on Thursday was 7 degrees above normal.

The weekend looks like it could be a little cooler on the weekend with National Weather Service forecasters calling for 86 degrees on Saturday and Sunday.

On the bright side, no 100-degree days are forecast. Oct. 10 is the latest date in the year that the temperature has hit 100 degrees or higher in Sacramento. That occurred in 1991.

The detailed, 7-day forecast from the NWS for the Sacramento region:

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 89. South wind around 5 mph becoming west in the afternoon.

Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 60. Calm wind becoming south southwest 5 to 7 mph in the evening.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 86. South wind 5 to 7 mph.

Saturday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 59. South wind 6 to 8 mph.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 86. Light and variable wind becoming northwest around 6 mph in the afternoon.

Sunday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 60.

Columbus Day: Sunny, with a high near 89.

Monday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 60.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 89.

Tuesday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 61.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 90.

Wednesday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 60.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 87.
