A stretch of four consecutive days of 90-degree weather is expected to be snapped on Friday as the Sacramento region starts to finally get some fall weather.

The work week went like this in Sacramento: Monday, 93 degrees, Tuesday, 95, Wednesday, 94 and Thursday 90. That’s hardly autumnal.

The National Weather Service is forecasting a quick burst of fall with cooler temperatures and perhaps some showers in the next couple of days.

The change starts Friday when the high temperature is expected to be 84 degrees in Sacramento.

A high of 84 degrees is still five degrees above normal for mid-October, but the temperature gauge is moving in the right direction for those who want to bid summer-like temperatures adieu.

Then, according to NWS forecasters, a weather system moving from the Pacific Ocean is expected to bring a mixed bag of weather for the weekend. On Saturday, showers and thunderstorms are predicted for the north state.

Sacramento is expected to get less than a tenth of an inch of rain on Saturday. On Sunday, the system exits to the east, returning sunny weather to Sacramento. Temperatures both days are forecast to be in the high 70s.

The detailed, 7-day forecast from the NWS for the Sacramento region:
