Warm, dry days and mild nights expected through weekend

An entrenched ridge of high pressure will keep Sacramento-area weather warm and dry throughout the weekend, but rain could move into the area by midweek next week.

The National Weather Service is calling for mostly sunny conditions today, with a warmer-than-average high of around 82. Historically, the average high temperature at this time of year is around 75 degrees.

Winds are expected to pick up a bit this afternoon, becoming south-southeast to around 5 miles per hour. Tonight’s low will be in the mid-50s.

The NWS said rain could arrive in the area by Wednesday.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 82. Calm wind becoming south at 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon.

Saturday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 57. Light south-southeast winds.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 79. Calm wind becoming south-southwest at 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon.

Sunday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 56.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 79.

Monday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 56.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 81.

Tuesday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 57.

Wednesday: A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 74.

Wednesday night: A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 57.

Thursday: A slight chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 80.
