Record high temperature for date recorded Friday in Sacramento; forecast good for trick-or-treaters

Friday provided a warm prelude to Halloween, with a record high for the date reported at Sacramento Executive Airport.

The temperature there topped out at 85 degrees, according to the National Weather Service, two degrees above the previous record set in 1965.

Saturday’s high in the Sacramento-area is expected to be about 80 degrees.

Parents of trick-or-treaters should know that the weather Saturday night won’t be cold or wet. A mild day also is forecast for mountain areas, with an anticipated high of 69 degrees in Truckee and 67 degrees in South Lake Tahoe.

The National Weather Service is forecasting that rain will hold off until Sunday in the Sacramento region. Halloween will have some clouds but no sprinkles –– and the night won’t be chilly, according to forecasters.
