Windy, dry in Sacramento but chance of weekend showers

Wind gusts in Sacramento are expected to be strong again Wednesday.

The National Weather Service is forecasting that winds will blow steady at around 12 mph, gusting to 20 mph on Wednesday.

A couple of weather systems are on the horizon. The first will bring clouds Thursday night to Sacramento and a chance of rain on the mountains to the north.

The second system will bring more widespread precipitation to the north state, according to the NWS. Sacramento could see some showers on Sunday and Monday.

The detailed, seven-day forecast from the NWS for the Sacramento region:

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 66. North-northwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Wednesday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 43. North-northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high near 65. South-southwest wind 3 to 5 mph.

Thursday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 43. North wind 3 to 6 mph.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 65. Northwest wind 3 to 5 mph.

Friday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 45.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 66.

Saturday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 46.

Sunday: A slight chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 69.

Sunday night: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 52.

Monday: Showers likely. Partly sunny, with a high near 66.
