Thanksgiving weather in Sacramento will be bright, brisk

Thanksgiving in the Sacramento area should be a perfect day for a game of touch football on the front lawn, with crisp air, bright sun and autumn color.

The National Weather Service forecasts a chilly morning in the low 30s with patchy frost, followed by mostly sunny skies and a high of 53 degrees.

“Those numbers would be a more typical January high and low,” said Karl Swanberg, a weather service forecaster in Sacramento.

Average temperatures this time of year are almost 10 degrees higher than those on Wednesday and Thursday, he said.

In the foothills, it’ll be even cooler with partly cloudy skies. And in the mountains, the temperature will dip into the 20s and 30s with a slight chance of snow showers and winds up to 15 mph, he said.

Here’s the seven-day forecast for Sacramento from the National Weather Service:

Thanksgiving day: Mostly sunny, with a high near 53. North northwest wind around 9 mph.

Thursday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 33. North northwest wind 7 to 13 mph.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 54. North wind 9 to 11 mph.

Friday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 32. North northwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light in the evening.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 52.

Saturday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 33.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 54.

Sunday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 38.

Monday: A slight chance of rain. Partly sunny, with a high near 55.

Monday night: A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 40.

Tuesday: A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 58.

Tuesday night: A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 41.

Wednesday: A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 59.
