Storm systems are backed up in the Pacific Ocean with the next weather system expected onshore on Sunday when runners will be participating in the California International Marathon.
The National Weather Service notes that the storms are lining up and headed for land on Sunday, Monday and Wednesday-Thursday. Forecasters note that none of the storm systems look particularly potent.
However, meteorologists said, it is encouraging that the region is not entering an extended dry phase.
The weather on Friday is expected to be mostly sunny in Sacramento. The system that is forecast to arrive on Sunday morning is predicted to move across the region at the same time the marathon is run from Folsom Dam to the state Capitol.
