A few sprinkles Friday will lead into a weekend that looks to be half dry, half rainstorm.

The moderate rain event that dampened Sacramento on Thursday has mostly exited Sacramento Friday, but the weather system is still dumping snow in the Sierra Nevada. Sacramento got a tenth of an inch of rain on Thursday.

National Weather Service forecasters are turning their attention to the weekend. Saturday looks like a good day to do some Christmas shopping with very little chance of rain forecast during the daylight hours.

However, Sunday the rain will start in the morning and be heavy at times, according to the NWS. Rainfall amounts in the Sacramento Valley are predicted to range from a third of an inch to an inch of precipitation.

Winds will accompany both snow in the mountains and the rain on the flatlands.

The detailed, 7-day forecast from the NWS for the Sacramento region:

Friday: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 10am, then a chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 58. South southwest wind 7 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Snow from the storm sweeping through Northern California on Thursday, Dec. 10, 2015, blanketed parts of the Sierra, including Interstate 80 through Donner Pass, where Sacramento Bee reporter Ed Fletcher recorded images he used for a sped-up look
