Rain is expected to arrive in Sacramento late Sunday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

The capital region will see a double dose of storms, with the second wave arriving Monday. The weather service is predicting up to half an inch of precipitation when the final rain clouds leave on Tuesday.

“Not a major storm certainly, but enough to cause some traffic hazards,” said Courtney Obergfell, a weather service forecaster in Sacramento.

The Sierra Nevada will get a healthy dose of snow, with up to 8 inches forecast for areas above 4,000 feet and 2 feet of snow in elevations higher than 7,000 feet, according to Obergfell.
