The National Weather Service has issued tornado warnings for portions of Shasta and Tehama counties.
As of 2:22 p.m., Doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado near Gerber-Las Flores, about 9 miles southeast of Red Bluff. It also showed similar conditions near Paynes Creek, about 12 miles southwest of Shingletown and moving east at 30 mph, the National Weather Service reported.
People in the area are advised to move to an interior on the lowest floor of a sturdy building, and to avoid windows. Those in a mobile home or outdoors are advised to move to the closest substantial shelter and to protect themselves from flying debris.
The warning for Shasta County is in effect until 2:45 p.m. and in Tehama County, until 3:15 p.m.
