Unseasonably warm weather is expected to continue through the holiday weekend in the Sacramento area, including the possibility of record high temperatures.
Temperatures will peak Sunday with a high around 76 degrees in Sacramento and 79 Monday, according to the National Weather Service. Similar temperatures are expected throughout the valley, along with a high of 52 in the Tahoe area.
“A few records may be threatened on Sunday from around Sacramento southward,” according to the service’s forecast.
The record high at Sacramento Executive Airport for Sunday was 74 degrees in 2015. The record high in the same location for Monday was 76 in 1977.
Cooler weather is expected to return to the area around Wednesday.
