Spring-like weather that brought walkers, bicyclists and boaters to the American River Parkway over the Presidents’ day weekend is expected to continue for at least one more day.

Sacramento has experienced 8 consecutive days of 70-degree weather. Normally, the high temperature in early-to-mid February in the 60s.

The ridge of high pressure that delivered the mild weather is still in place. The National Weather Service noted there are records to watch on Tuesday because they could be broken or tied:

Redding Airport: 78 degrees, set in 2015

Red Bluff: 77 set in 1957

Sacramento: 76 set in 1977

Sacramento Executive Airport: 75 set in 2007

Stockton: 76 set in 1977

Modesto: 78 set in 1943

A Pacific Ocean storm system is poised to change the weather by moving into interior Northern California on Wednesday. Rain is expected to arrive in the Sacramento region around the evening commute on Wednesday.

Perhaps a half inch of rain could fall Wednesday night, according to the NWS. The detailed, 7-day forecast from the NWS for the Sacramento region:

Tuesday: Patchy fog before 10am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 75. East southeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the morning.

Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 56. North wind around 6 mph becoming south after midnight.

Wednesday: Rain, mainly after 4pm. The rain could be heavy at times. High near 68. South wind 6 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Wednesday night: Rain. The rain could be heavy at times. Low around 49. South wind 13 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Thursday: Showers likely, mainly before 10am. Cloudy, with a high near 62. South southeast wind 13 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

Thursday night: A 20 percent chance of showers before 10pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 47.

Friday: A 20 percent chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 62.
