It’s warm. It’s dry. And, if you’re all about putting an end to this major drought, it’s mostly disappointing. More unseasonable weather this weekend might have many wondering – and worrying – that this winter’s El Niño has gone into a dire slump.

The high Friday was 73 degrees, and the overnight low was 49 degrees, according to Nathan Owen, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Sacramento. There were gusty winds as high as 20 mph Friday, but those mostly petered out by Saturday morning.

The high Saturday is expected to hit 68, and the low will dip to 46 by Sunday morning.

Owen said it is not unusual for El Niño conditions to include extended dry spells. While rain is possible by the middle of the week, it is too soon to tell how much and for how long, he said.

The detailed, seven-day forecast for the Sacramento region from the NWS:
