Luck of the Irish: Great St. Patrick’s Day weather ahead in Sacramento

This St. Patrick’s Day in Sacramento the hills are as emerald as Ireland -- and the weather is decidedly Californian.

March rains have made the grass grow green in the foothills and along the rivers. Sunshine this week has only added to the brilliant hue, making pasture land more lush for cattle and wildlife.

Sunny weather is expected to continue today and on St. Patrick’s Day, which is Thursday. A high pressure system is holding steady, preventing the return of rainfall.

High temperatures in the 70s and sunny skies are expected to continue through the week. The most likely day to see a return of showers is Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

Until then, there will be plenty of opportunities to visit one of Sacramento’s proliferating brew pubs or bars for a tipple in the bright sunshine. The detailed, 7-day forecast for the Sacramento region from the NWS:
