Just when it looked like Sacramento’s sunny spring weather was here to stay, intermittent light rain moved into the area Friday evening and is expected to be with us through Sunday, with more to come later in the week.
“The emphasis is on ‘light rainfall,” said Karl Swanberg, a forecaster with the National Weather Service. “Though there is an isolated chance of a thunderstorm (Saturday) afternoon, with some heavier rains associated with it.”
There’s an 80 percent chance of on-and-off rain Saturday, 60 percent Saturday evening and 40 percent Sunday, he said.
Unsettled weather will continue into the coming week, he said, with Monday and Tuesday generally dry but with cloudy skies. Another light weather system could move in on Wednesday or Thursday, bringing cooler temperatures through Friday.

The high temperatures Saturday and Sunday will be 66 to 68 degrees, with south winds at 10 mph. The overnight low will be near 50. Highs on Monday and Tuesday will be in the upper 60s to mid-70s, with temperatures trending cooler Wednesday through Friday, with highs in the upper 50s and 60s and lows in the mid- to upper-40s, Swanberg said.
“Despite the weather, Sacramento is still 83 percent of normal rainfall (amounts),” he said. “It’s above normal in most of the foothills and the mountain area.”
