Relief from the heat is on the way in the next few days, but the Sacramento area can expect to swelter through weekend highs of about 100 degrees, the National Weather Service says.
Friday in Sacramento was the hottest day of the year so far, topping out at 104 degrees, slightly above the 103-degree high recorded last Tuesday, forecaster Karl Swanberg said Saturday.
Normal highs for this time of year are about 86, Swanberg said, but Sacramento won’t cool off to that range until about mid-week.
“We’ve got 100 for the expected high (Saturday) and 100 for Sunday,” Swanberg said. “It’s beginning to cool down next week, still 98 for Monday, but Tuesday dropping to the low 90s, and it looks like mid- to upper 80s beyond that.
“Probably around Tuesday there will be some noticeable cooling moving into the area.”
