Temperatures soared well into the triple digits throughout the Sacramento region Monday but failed to break any records for the date. Look for continued hot weather on Tuesday.
Downtown Sacramento recorded a high of 107 degrees, while Sacramento Executive Airport reported a high of 104, said Karl Swanberg, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. Unofficial highs elsewhere in area included 109 in Lincoln; 108 in Folsom and Elk Grove; 107 in Fair Oaks, Rocklin and Woodland; and 102 in Auburn, Swanberg said.
The high temperature on Tuesday is expected to reach 106 degrees in Sacramento. That’s shy of a record, but still plenty hot.
With a high pressure system traveling through Northern California this week, temperatures are expected to remain in the triple digits through Friday. By Saturday, temperatures are expected to head back into the 90s with the return of the Delta breeze.
