Independence Day will mark the start of cooler weather through the week, with a high of 89 degrees.

Sacramento has seen a continuous decline in heat, dropping from record highs to below-average temperatures this week. The week’s highs are expected to remain in the upper 80s, according to the National Weather Service.

A Delta breeze will cool the area until Wednesday and will keep low temperatures about 10 degrees below average. The onshore flow will also cause increased humidity, which may help to contain the Trailhead Fire and others in Northern California.

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 89. South southwest wind around 8 mph.

Monday night: Clear, with a low around 57. South southwest wind 6 to 10 mph.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 87. Southwest wind around 8 mph.

Tuesday Night: Clear, with a low around 55. South wind 5 to 8 mph.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 86. Light and variable wind becoming west southwest around 6 mph in the afternoon.

Wednesday Night: Clear, with a low around 57.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 89.

Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 56.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 88.

Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 60.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 87.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 58.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 87.
