Sacramento forecast calls for week of highs in upper 80s

After a scorching June, July is off to a decidedly milder start.

Downtown Sacramento topped out at 87 degrees Tuesday, while a high of 82 degrees was reported at Sacramento Executive Airport and 85 degrees at Sacramento International Airport, said Courtney Obergfell, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

The comparatively cooler weather is expected to hold steady through Sunday, with the forecast calling for highs in the upper 80s.

The coolest day of the week is expected to be Saturday, when the mercury is forecast to rise to only 85 degrees. The normal afternoon maximum for early July is 92 degrees.

Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 57. South-southeast wind 6 to 10 mph.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 89. South wind 5 to 9 mph.

Wednesday night: Clear, with a low around 58. South wind 6 to 10 mph.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 88. South-southwest wind around 7 mph.

Thursday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 58. South wind 8 to 11 mph.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 88.

Friday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 60.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 85.

Saturday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 58.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 88.

Sunday night: Clear, with a low around 59.
