Sacramento weather is expected to turn from very warm to hot in the next seven days.

Head for the coast or South Lake Tahoe to escape the heated conditions forecast for the weekend in Sacramento. Temperatures will hover around the 100-degree mark starting Saturday with the hottest day expected to be Tuesday when the mercury could hit 103 degrees.

The high on Wednesday was 95 degrees, which is plenty warm. But look for a gradual warm-up, according to the National Weather Service as the Delta breeze begins to fade.

The detailed, 7-day forecast from the NWS for the Sacramento region:

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 91. South southwest wind 7 to 9 mph.

Tonight: Clear, with a low around 58. Southwest wind 6 to 10 mph.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 95. Calm wind becoming west northwest around 6 mph in the afternoon.

Friday night: Clear, with a low around 59. West wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Saturday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 100. Calm wind becoming northwest 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon.

Saturday night: Clear, with a low around 60.

Sunday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 100.

Monday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 99.

Monday night: Clear, with a low around 60.

Tuesday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 103.
