For the last day of the state fair, here are five ways to cool off as temperatures soar on Sunday.

The California State Fair closed Sunday in Sacramento with triple-digit temperatures and blazing sun.

The fair, which began July 8, won’t release attendance numbers until Monday, said Media Director Sabrina Rodriguez, but out of the 17 days, just four were in the 100s. Staying in the double digits helps with attendance, Rodriguez said.

July 18 had the second-highest attendance for a second Monday in 20 years, she said. The high was 87 degrees.

This week, the Sacramento region will get a brief reprieve Monday from triple-digit heat before highs climb back into the 100s for the rest of the week, the National Weather Service predicted.

Sunday’s highs were several degrees warmer than Saturday’s, ranging from 100 to 107 across the Central Valley, the NWS said. The Delta breeze will cool things off a bit on Monday, with a high of 98 predicted. Triple-digit predictions return Tuesday, and highs during the week are expected to be upwards of 10 degrees above normal.

Mid-90s temperatures are normal for this time of year, according to the NWS, though Sunday is expected to fall short of the record high of 111 degrees for this date with a predicted high of 104.

The detailed, seven-day forecast for the Sacramento area from the NWS:

Sunday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 104. South southwest wind around 7 mph.

Sunday night: Clear, with a low around 60. South wind around 9 mph.

Monday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 98. Southwest wind 5 to 7 mph.

Monday night: Clear, with a low around 62. South wind around 6 mph.

Tuesday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 105. South wind 3 to 5 mph.

Tuesday night: Clear, with a low around 64.

Wednesday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 104.

Wednesday night: Clear, with a low around 63.

Here are six tips to help Sacramentans survive the heat this summer. Temperatures in the Sacrameto area already broke 100 degrees on Tuesday, May 31, 2016, which means Sacramento may be in store for several heatwaves this coming summer.
