Warming temperatures could produce only the second hundred degree day this month.

Normally there are six days with a maximum temperature of 100 degrees or higher in Sacramento during August. This month there has been one so far when the mercury hit 102 degrees on Aug. 3.

The National Weather Service is predicting that a building high pressure system will return the temperatures into the 100s over the weekend. On Saturday NWS meteorologists are forecasting a high of 100 in Sacramento.

Until then, temperatures will linger in the mid-to-high 90s in Sacramento. The detailed, 7-day forecast from the NWS for the Sacramento region:

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 95. West southwest wind 5 to 7 mph.

Tonight: Clear, with a low around 60. South wind 6 to 13 mph.

Friday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 97. Southwest wind around 6 mph.

Friday night: Clear, with a low around 62. South wind 6 to 9 mph.

Saturday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 100. Light and variable wind becoming west southwest around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Saturday night: Clear, with a low around 61.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 95.

Sunday night: Clear, with a low around 60.

Monday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 98.

Monday night: Clear, with a low around 61.

Tuesday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 97.

Tuesday night: Clear, with a low around 61.

Wednesday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 98.
