Noah became the most popular boy's baby name in California during 2014, leapfrogging fellow Biblical icon Jacob. (Noah, unlike Jacob, had a self titled Hollywood blockbuster made about him last year.)
Sophia retained the top spot among girls.
The boys' names that saw the biggest jumps in popularity from 2012 to 2013 were Sebastian, James and Noah. The fastest-rising girls names were Victoria, Olivia and Daleyza.
And the name losing the most popularity last year? Nicole.
