Test score performance often closely aligns with the amount of poverty in a school - and the region's top-ranked schools are mostly found in wealthy areas.
Last week, the state released rankings for each school in the state based on their Academic Performance Index, a composite of test scores.
Rocklin Unified and Folsom-Cordova Unified had the most local schools ranked in the top 10 percent statewide. Sacramento City Unified and Twin Rivers Unified had the most schools ranked in the bottom 10 percent.
This map shows, in green, all of the local schools ranked in the top 10 percent statewide and, in red, all of the schools ranked in the bottom 10 percent statewide, based on their test scores. Click each dot to see details.
