Oakland and Kansas City concluded a contentious three-game series Sunday, and the Royals got in the last licks with a 4-2 victory that included five K.C. player ejections. A’s starter Scott Kazmir left in the eighth inning with a 2-1 lead and the A’s left Kansas City angry after a stinging defeat.

The River Cats are in their 16th season. Until Sunday, no player had ever hit for the cycle, but Adam Duvall did in a 15-7 win at Salt Lake. Duvall went 5 for 6 with two doubles and four RBIs. Teammate Darren Ford finished a single shy of a cycle and was in the on-deck circle when the top of the ninth inning ended.
