UC Santa Barbara swept UC Davis 25-21, 25-23, 25-23 as freshman Ali Spindt recorded 14 kills and 17 digs, while senior Leah Sully picked up a match-high 22 digs to lead the Guachos in Big West Conference women’s volleyball action at the Pavilion on Thursday night, UCD reported.
Senior Devon Damelio posted a double double with 13 kills and 12 digs for UC Davis. Junior middle blocker Victoria Lee added 9-1-19 hitting for a .421 average, and senior setter Jenny Woolway and junior libero Megan Lancaster each posted 15 digs.
The Aggies, who lost their first three-set sweep of the year, fell to 14-12 overall and 6-7 in conference. The Gauchos improved to 14-9 for the year and 9-2 in the Big West.
UC Davis will host Cal Poly at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Running regional today
Sacramento State and UC Davis are among 37 schools that will compete in the NCAA Division I Cross Country West Regional championship today at Haggin Oaks Golf Course.
The men’s 10K race starts at 10:30 a.m. and the women’s 6K is at 11:45 a.m. The loop course will start and finish near the Haggin Oaks clubhouse.
The championships, hosted by Sac State, will include the No. 1-ranked Arizona women’s team and other teams from the Pacific-12 Conference.
The top two teams and the top four runners not on the top two teams in each race will advance to the NCAA Division I championships in Terre Haute, Ind., on Nov. 23.
There is no cost to attend today’s event, but parking is $5 per car.
