Local College basketball: Utah overpowers UC Davis in basketball

Brandon Taylor scored 21 points and Renan Lenz 20 to power Utah to a 94-60 victory over UC Davis on Friday night in Salt Lake City.

Jordan Loveridge added 11 points and 15 rebounds for the Utes while Delon Wright chipped in 12 points, nine rebounds and six assists. Utah (2-0) shot 60.3 percent (35 of 58) from the field and led wire to wire.

Brynton Lemar scored 14 points, and Josh Ritchart (Forest Lake Christian) and Corey Hawkins added 11 apiece to lead the Aggies (1-2), who were held to 33.8 percent shooting (22 of 65) from the field. Hawkins returned to the lineup after missing a game with a hand injury.

Oregon State 102, Sacramento State 80 in Corvallis, Ore. – Center Ruth Hamblin, 6-foot-6, had a game-high 18 points and 10 rebounds as the Beavers (3-0) avenged last year’s home loss to the Hornets (2-1), Sac State reported.

Takara Burse and Shanti Smith each scored a career-high 15 points to lead Sac State, and Sadie Clements added 10.

Hamblin scored 14 points to help Oregon State lead 57-41 at halftime.
