Sacramento State quarterback Garrett Safron and UC Davis placekicker Brady Stuart have been named Big Sky Conference Offensive and Special Teams Players of the Week, respectively.
Safron compiled 596 yards of total offense and accounted for six touchdowns in Sacr State’s 43-42 win at Portland State on Saturday.
The junior from Santa Monica completed 34-of-50 passes for a school-record 554 yards with four touchdowns. He also rushed for 42 yards and two scores.
He led the Hornets on a late-game 85-yard drive and threw the game-winning touchdown with 30 seconds remaining.

Safron’s 554 passing yards are the second-most by a Football Championship Subdivision quarterback this season.
His 596 total yards set the school record and are the fifth-most in Big Sky history. He set the single-game school record for completions, attempts, yards and touchdowns.
Stuart, a freshman from Newhall, made a career-high four field goals and two extra points in UC Davis’ 34-18 win over North Dakota. Stuart connected on field goals of 18, 29, 32 and 35 yards, tying the conference’s single-game high this season.
Stuart has made eight consecutive field goals and has 15 for the season.
