1. First quarter production: The Kings have to be solid in the first quarter and not allow the Pelicans to get into a groove on offense. The Kings have allowed 30-plus points in the first quarter of three of their last four games.
2. Talk it out: Many of the Kings’ defensive problems have come from a lack of communication on the court. It’s resulted in shooters being left open or uncontested lay ups. If that’s a problem against the Pelicans, players like Ryan Anderson that will exploit mistakes from three-point range.
3. Thomas in charge: Isaiah Thomas is averaging 20.7 points and 7.6 assists in his last 10 games, showing he can score while also keeping his teammates involved. Thomas has also made a three pointer in 20 consecutive games.
