River Cats glance: Held to two hits in the opener, River Cats hammer Tacoma in second game

Highlight:

The River Cats split a doubleheader with the host Tacoma Rainiers on Sunday, losing the first game 1-0 and winning the second 8-3 to give Steve Scarsone his 500th career managerial victory.



• 

Game 1:

River Cats starter Sean Murphy pitched seven scoreless innings, but Tacoma won it on Leury Bonilla’s RBI walkoff single with none out in the ninth.



• 

Game 2:

Philip Pohl’s two-run double in the third inning and Jake Goebbert’s three-run homer in the fourth helped the River Cats pull away.



• 

Another streak continues:

In his first game since his 14-game hitting streak dating to last season ended, the River Cats’ Alden Carrithers went 2 for 4 with a walk and scored two runs. Carrithers is hitting .388, tied for seventh in the Pacific Coast League.
