It’s hard to believe it has taken this long for women to crack into the NBA coaching ranks. But the Kings plan to make Nancy Lieberman an assistant coach – in what appears to be the beginning of a greater trend.

The Giants acquire starter Mike Leake from Cincinnati for a two minor-leaguers, bolstering the defending World Series champions for another playoff run. Leake, 27, has won his past four starts, allowing only two earned runs in 30 innings.

A’s: Slow start costly in loss to Indians

Chris Bassitt gives up three runs with one out in the first inning as the A’s lose 3-1 to the Cleveland Indians, Oakland’s sixth loss in its past seven games. Bassitt, being given a chance to carve out a spot in the rotation with trades and injuries putting the A’s in flux, hadn’t allowed more than two runs in any of his first four starts.

River Cats: Turley holds Las Vegas in check
