Sports Night: Long fall of Aldon Smith

49ers: Long fall of Aldon Smith

Aldon Smith, who rocketed to the top of the NFL during his spectacular rookie season, has been falling ever since. On Friday he fell right off the 49ers’ roster. Smith, 25, was arrested on suspicion of DUI, hit and run and vandalism Thursday night after allegedly striking a car while he was trying to park at a condominium complex.

A’s: Gray outduels Keuchel

Sonny Gray improves to 5-1 over his last 11 starts by giving up one run and five hits, outdueling Houston’s Dallas Keuchel as the A’s win 3-1 on Friday night. Gray struck out five and did not walk a batter in his third complete game, all within his last six starts.

Giants: Rut digs deeper

The San Francisco Giants are in a bit of a rut. Their manager is not too concerned — yet. Kyle Schwarber continues his offensive surge with two hits and two RBIs to back Jon Lester, and the Chicago Cubs beat San Francisco 7-3, their eighth win in nine games.
