Jed Lowrie and Yonder Alonso each hit a two-run homer and the A’s take advantage of sloppy play from the Giants to win their third straight game in the Bay Bridge Series, 7-1 on Wednesday night. Oakland goes for the sweep Thursday.

Republic FC: Affiliation with Earthquakes to end
Although Republic FC president Warren Smith would have liked to maintain affiliation with the San Jose Earthquakes until Sacramento’s anticipated acceptance into Major League Soccer, he understands the move after the Earthquakes signed a two-year affiliation with USL expansion Reno 1868 FC beginning in 2017.
