Horse Sense: Arrington rides the Storm to the bank; Pajak looking for major Street cred

Horse Sense

Bee staff writers and horse players Debbie Arrington and Steve Pajak are renewing their head-to-head bankroll battle during the State Fair. Each started with a hypothetical $500 for 10 racing days.

ARRINGTON SAYS

Sunday: Won $99.50 when Just Let It Slide and Morning Storm finished 1-2 in the eighth race.

Bankroll: $526.50

Today: LUCKARACK (third race) is an old pro who hasn’t lost his will to win. A son of Lucky Pulpit (the same as California Chrome), this 8-year-old gelding has 17 victories and more than $583,000 in earnings to his credit.

The bet: $10 win/place on Luckarack; $5 exacta box on Luckarack, Feisty’s Cause and Barrel Knot.

Note to Steve: In our two-horse race, a loose lead can be mighty dangerous.

PAJAK SAYS

Sunday: Lost $50 when Mucho Macho Dan finished sixth in the eighth race.

Bankroll: $382

Today: BRODERICK STREET (fifth race) is a picture of consistency and steps up two class levels after being claimed. The move shows confidence and keeps the odds juicy.

The bet: $20 win Broderick Street; $5 exacta boxes Broderick Street with Mojo Street, Yes I’m Wild and Luck Mark; $5 double Broderick Street with Litigation Road (sixth race).

Note to Debbie: This is horsebleep!
