College basketball: Sac State, UCD benefit from playing abroad

Sacramento State’s men’s basketball players were mobbed by crowds seemingly everywhere they went in Taiwan during last month’s William Jones Cup. This week, UC Davis is playing in Costa Rica. While most teams don’t officially start preparing for their seasons until October, the Hornets and Aggies got an early start under NCAA rules that allow one offseason trip every four seasons.
