Sam Long picked up the victory, allowing one run in six innings for Sac State (24-23, 11-9 Western Athletic Conference).
The Cougars (11-34-1, 4-14-1) lost their fourth consecutive game.
▪ UC Davis had a season-low three hits in a 4-1 loss at sixth-ranked UC Santa Barbara (33-10-1, 10-4 Big West Conference), the Aggies reported. Nick Lynch had his nation-leading 26th double for UCD (26-18-1, 5-9).

Hornets sweep in softball
▪ Sac State completed a three-game softball sweep of host Portland State with a 3-2 win, the Hornets reported.
The Vikings (16-35, 8-13 Big Sky Conference) led 2-1 after five innings. But Sac State (26-24, 15-6) scored twice in the sixth on Shelby Johnston’s double and Paige Martin’s single. Caitlin Brooks pitched a three-hitter for the win.
▪ Kelly Zboralske’s three-run homer powered host UC Davis past Cal State Fullerton 4-1 in the first game of a doubleheader, the Aggies reported. Leah Munden scattered six hits and earned her career-high 10th win for UCD (18-27, 6-11).
The Titans (31-21, 9-8 Big West) won the nightcap 3-1.
Sac State crew reigns
The Sac State women’s crew swept five races against UC Davis at the Port of Sacramento, winning by open water in the varsity eight, second varsity eight, varsity four, novice eight and novice four events, the Hornets reported.
