UC Davis senior guard Corey Hawkins and Sacramento State senior guard Mikh McKinney have been named finalists for the Lou Henson Award, presented annually to the nation’s top mid-major men’s college basketball player.

Hawkins was the Big West Conference Player of the Year and McKinney the Big Sky Conference Player of the Year while leading their teams to the best Division I seasons in school history.

As two on the 31 finalists, they are members of the Henson All-America team.

The honors come on the heels of the announcement that UCD coach Jim Les and Sac State coach Brian Katz are among 16 finalists for the Hugh Durham Award, given annually to the nation’s top mid-major men’s basketball coach.

Les was the Big West Coach of the Year and Katz the Big Sky Co-Coach of the Year.

The award winners will be announced April 3 in Indianapolis.
